Welcome to the Children’s Programs at the Hairston School of Dance! We are delighted to offer a range of engaging and enriching dance classes specially designed for young children. From 18 months to 6 years old, we have the perfect classes to introduce your child to the world of dance. Our experienced instructors create a nurturing and inclusive environment where children can explore their creativity, develop fundamental skills, and cultivate a lifelong love for dance. Join us on this magical journey as your little one discovers the joy of movement, expression, and artistic growth.
Me and My Shadow(s)
Me and My Shadow (Adult and one child or Adult and two children)
Please note: An adult is required to be present with the child or children throughout the class. We kindly request parents with more than two children to reach out to Miss Sarah before enrolling, so we can ensure the best possible experience for everyone involved.
Ages: 18 months to 3 years

Explore the joy of music and movement together! Designed specifically for children between 18 months and 3 years, Me and My Shadow is perfectly tailored to suit the attention span and energy levels of young dancers. During this time, you and your child will embark on a dance journey together, exploring various movements, building coordination skills, and discovering the pure joy of music. This class provides a safe and inclusive space where your child can learn at their own pace, allowing their curiosity to flourish
Class Overview
Led by our passionate instructors, our Me and My Shadow classes are designed to create a nurturing and supportive environment where your little one can develop a love for dance. We encourage self-expression, confidence, and physical development in our youngest dancers through imaginative play, creative exercises, and age-appropriate activities.
Pre-Ballet
Ages: 3–6 years old
Length: 45 minutes
Frequency: Once per week
Days/Times: Monday 5:00–5:45 PM; Thursday 10:30–11:15 AM; Saturday 9:45–10:30 AM or 10:45–11:30 AM
Tuition: $600 (Sept–May), $300 (Sept–Jan or Jan–May)
Is your young child full of energy, curiosity, and a passion for movement? Our Pre-Ballet class is the perfect opportunity for them to embark on a magical journey into the world of ballet. Designed specifically for students between 3 and 6 years old, this class provides a nurturing environment where your child can begin to develop a solid foundation in ballet while having a ton of fun!

Young Boys Ballet
Ages: 3–6 years old
Length: 45 minutes
Frequency: Once per week
Days/Times: Wednesday 5:00–5:45 PM
Tuition: $500 (Sept–May), $250 (Sept–Jan or Jan–May)
At the Hairston School of Dance, we believe in the power of dance to inspire confidence, creativity, and discipline in young boys. Our instructors are committed to creating a positive and supportive atmosphere where they can explore their artistic expression and reach their full potential. During class, children engage in a range of activities that focus on coordination, core strength, agility, flexibility, team building, and cardio.

Tuition: $400 (Sept–May), $200 (Sept–Jan or Jan–May), $300 and $150 add on
Please note: We highly recommend that students taking ballet classes also participate in tap once a week to enhance their precision, artistry, rhythm, and coordination. However, tap is open to all students ages 3 to 6 years old, regardless of whether they are enrolled in ballet or not.
Do you have a budding Chloe Arnold or Gene Kelly in the family? Our Pre-Tap class is the perfect opportunity for your natural-born entertainer to explore the vibrant world of tap dance. Designed for students between 3 and 6 years old, this class provides a fun and engaging introduction to the beginner movements of tap4
Class Overview
Led by experienced instructors, our weekly sessions focus on developing coordination, precision, and musicality in your child’s dance repertoire. Through playful exercises and creative routines, they will learn the art of creating rhythms with their feet, combining footwork with body movements, and expressing themselves through this unique dance form. Whether they have big dreams or simply want to have fun and express themselves through dance, our class will give them the skills they need to succeed.
